New CHAS website

Our website at childshillallotments.org.uk has recently undergone a major overhaul and redesign thanks to one of our members, Alison Lawn - plot 100. We are very grateful to her for the work she has done, and we believe that the end result is an attractive site that is straightforward to use. However since the main purpose of the site is to provide you with the kind of information that you need and in a form that is easily accessible, it is for you to judge whether it
does that.

Please try the site and let us know what you think by sending your comments and any suggestions or ideas for additional features, etc. to al_lawn@hotmail.com, with a copy to chair@childshillallotments.org.uk

The Horticultural Channel

The Horticultural Channel has transmitted its first TV programme. In addition to a number of practical items on allotment gardening, it includes a piece on the rent rises proposed by Greenwich Council.

Go to http://thehorticulturalchannel.info/ where you will find links to the programme and various news items, several of which are about councils that are proposing large rent rises - we are not alone.

Rents 2011 – 2012

The rents and charges payable for the year April 1 2011 to March 31 2012, as notified to plotholders by Barnet Council in March 2010, are as follows:

Rent per pole         £5.90
Water charge per pole         £1.52

For plotholders over 60 years, there is a reduction of 50% in the rent for the first 10 poles.

For those plotholders who are members of the Child’s Hill Allotment Society the membership subscription for 2011/12 is £5.00

Rents, charges and subscriptions will be collected on Sundays April 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th between 11.00am and 1.00pm at the trading hut.

If the rent for a plot has not been paid by the end of April, it will be assumed that the plot is no longer required and it will be re-let.
